An offshore wind boom is happening right before our eyes, and we now know a huge piece of it will likely be built off the coast of Atlantic City.
New Jersey utility regulators have awarded a contract for an offshore wind farm that would be the largest in the country. The 1,100-megawatt project is being led by Ørsted, a Norwegian energy company that is a leader in offshore wind.
With this announcement, New Jersey makes a strong start in its quest to attract jobs and investment tied to offshore wind energy. In the process, Ørsted gains a foothold in the North American market.
